Seriously one of the best movies I have seen this year...what a great outlook and hilariously personality from a 16 year old in a not-so-wonderful position...you will laugh and laugh and there are many great one-liners....
Really one of the worst movies I have ever seen. If the characters were not so pathetic, they'd be funnier. But they are. What begins as a mother's surprisingly sincere care and concern for her daughter becomes justification for being cruel to a nurse. In this horrid scene, the mother transforms herself into an older, wrinkled version of Juno, and spouts the kind of witticism and barbs in which everyone in town seems to be so proficient. Juno herself seems to view her baby as little more than an inconvenience, and I'm not convinced the pregnancy is a kind of red badge of courage for her. When the pregnancy is over, she goes on as if nothing ever happened. Juno is not the hero of the story. She's the sad byproduct of her thinking she's too smart for her own good--except she's not that smart. Everyone in Juno seems to have stood in line twice when God handed out a talent for witty comebacks, quirky observations, and unusual comparisons with advanced vocabulary. I don't remember what town it was, but it should be renamed "Weallthinkwe'refunny" North Dakota. Juno was unbelieveable as a movie; its "hero" was entirely unlikeable; the performance by Jennifer Garner was wooden, while Juno's character seemed a characiture of adolescence; and the voice of the characters, wheether teenaged pregnant girl, guy behind counter at convenience store, or mom, all sounded like a thirty-something screenwriter bent on making a quirky movie. Well, she did. Too bad it wasn't any good.
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the movie...We all do things in our lives that we probably aren't too proud of...we can either suffer through it miserably or make the best of the situation and move on with our lives...I thought the movie did a good job of portraying that...as for the mother, I saw her as protecting her daughter from those that judge as if they have never committed a sin before...as for Juno...don't all teenagers think they are too smart?...I liked the witty comments, I guess humor is one of my coping skills...I wouldn't call her a "hero" though either, but for a 16 year-old I thought she handled herself in the best way she knew how...I do agree that it did seem as though it ended with her "forgetting" the whole thing and about Jennifer Gardner's performance...but I don't usually like anything she does...thanks for sharing...
The funny bit is I haven't seen any of the rest of the movies, many of which I would probably dig based on recommendations from friends. "Nickname unavailable" is me by the way... Noller
Thought I would share about Miss Riley and other adventures we have. Feel free to check us out at your leisure. She is a treasure and loves sharing with her friends and family...
